Thistle MWE 2007 - Karl Felger

Some would say that Quantum One Design is “bringin’ it” in the Thistle Class. Following up a Nationals in which Quantum Sails had 5 boats in the Top 10, this year’s Thistle Midwinters East provided 4 boats in the Top 6 finishers with Paul Abdullah, Greg Griffin, Scott Griffin and Skip Dieball finishing 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th, respectively.

Quantum Sails One Design would also like to congratulate Quantum customer George Allen (3853) on winning the B Fleet in his first visit ever to Thistle MWE. George was excited with the ease of set up, customer support and camaraderie he receive with his new sails. It’s all worth while when you see that ear to ear smile of a fellow sailor.

Joe McCorkell and Matias Heinrich continued their surge to the front of the fleet with strong finishing performances while current US Sailing Sailor of the Week and Quantum Representative Greg Griffin showed us all how it was done as the breeze built late in the week with a 2nd-1st-1st to finish the regatta.

On a special note, Quantum Sails would also like to congratulate Elmer Richards of Thistle 3954 (Elmer’s Glue II) on attending his 50th consecutive Midwinters Regatta. The Thistle Class honored Elmer with a special tribute on Wednesday evening with numerous friends, family and fellow sailors in attendance.

On behalf of the entire Thistle Class and the Quantum Sail Design Group we would like to thank Carole Bardes and her incredible support staff of the St Petersburg Yacht Club for hosting another fantastic and well run regatta.
